I would also like to know any statistics about the largest, fastest etc coasters, how many people go on coasters, how many accidents there are and how much money coaster companies make.

Entire World: 2005 (this does NOT include traveling roller coasters, just coasters with permanent locations)
North America: 710 (world leader) - (this does NOT include traveling roller coasters, just coasters with permanent locations)

Longest: Steel Dragon 2000 (8,100+ feet) - (Nagashima Spa Land - Japan)
Tallest: Kingda Ka (456 feet) - (Six Flags Great Adventure - Jackson New Jersey)
Fastest: Kinda Ka (128 mph) - (Six Flags Great Adventure - Jackson, New Jersey)
Fastest Acceleration: Dodonpa (107mph in 1.8 seconds) - (Fuji Q Highland - Japan)

Roller coasters range in attendance, some drawing over 2 million visitors per year (Raptor at Cedar Point) while some draw just about 800,000 (Mean Streak at Cedar Point). Very roughly, I would say combined roller coaster attendance in the world is well over 200 million people per year.

Accidents on roller coasters are extremely rare. Accidents that are a direct fault of the roller coaster (and not operator and/or rider error) are even more rare. Accidents on brand name (made by top manufacturers) are also extremely rare. You have a greater chance of being injured by a toothpick than on a roller coaster. You also are over 1,000,000 times, more likely to DIE in a car crash, than to be INJURED on a roller coaster. I do not know exact statistics on accidents per year though, but more accidents take place on flat rides than on roller coasters.

Manufacturers make a significant amount of money. I do not know exact figures, but capital investment coasters (usually manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillar or Intamin AG) cost upwards of $25 million in some cases. I would assume the manufacturer makes at least $4 million per coaster, the rest going into supplies.
