ive been waiting tables since high school and my body (and soul) cant take it! I have been to community college for art classes and went to trade school for audio engineering (i retained very little from that). Ive never worked outside the service industry.
Ive always desired a career doing something creative....writing, photography, music production, etc, etc. School is not my strong suit, nor do i enjoy it for the most part. I thought that eventually a strong passion for someting would drive me to school or to pursue something dillegently, but it hasnt.
I dread living an 'average' life with just a 'job'. I just dont feel that would fulfill me. I have no kids, no husband, few commitments. Im extremely open to travel and i love animals (no, i dont wanna be a vet!)

It wasn't until relatively recently in history that people expected to do work that they felt passionately about - most people just inherited trades passed down from generation to generation, and were just grateful that they had a way to make a living.

The plus side is that we now have many choices available to us. The downside is that if we aren't doing something that makes us jump out of bed with excitement every day, we think there must be something wrong with us. I worked my way through college and graduate school, and have a decent job providing real estate development loans, but it's not always exciting. I'm happy that I can support my family, though, and I think I may semi-retire someday teaching.

You can still pursue creative interests without that being your sole source of income. In fact, very few people get to make a living doing creative work. I have a friend with a Masters of Fine Arts who makes a living doing custom construction and carpentry - he'd prefer to live off selling his paintings, but he does what he can. I play classical and jazz guitar, but I've never expected that I'd make a living doing that.

Since you don't have a lot tying you down and you have some service experience, I suggest maybe you try looking for work on a cruise liner or at a nice resort abroad (maybe Caribbean or South Pacific?). You can get some fun out of it while you sort things out. Afterwards, pick something - anything - and go after it wholeheartedly. The passion may not come until after you've put some work into it.

I have a cousin who always knew he wanted to be a doctor since he was a kid, but I'm convinced that many of us don't find a passion until later on in life. Don't wait for that to happen first before you decide to jump into something, though - you may find something else along the way. Good luck.

You're young, without any major commitments, I'd say make a change in jobs. Try getting an entry level position in a field that interests you. This will give you a feel for the career field, the positives, the negatives and most importantly, whether or not it would be the 'right' career for you. Photography studios, music production companies, even magazines need a whole array of lower level assistants. Those positions often require no specific education, only a willingness to work and learn.

Yes, these will be 'just jobs' at first, but when you find an industry that you like, then you can work at making it a career.

Have you thought about having your own home business?

The right one gives you the ability to work your own hours and achieve your income goals while having the freedom to pursue other interests.

Choose a business that gives you passive and residual income so you can take time off without a significant decrease in income.

An Internet-based business gives you the ability to work from anywhere, so a traveling lifestyle does not hinder your income. In fact, it can help you earn more!

You remind me of myself - someone with so many interests that it's hard to choose just one. I'm a professional artist and shudder at the thought of having a 'real' job because I need time to paint and do all the other things that I find fulfilling.

So, I sell paintings and earn a nice income with my home-based travel booking business. I pass out business cards to people I encounter throughout my day and ask them to book their travel through my online booking site. The prices are very competitive, the commissions are generous and all arrangements are handled by corporate. In addition, I now have a team of travel agents who I also earn from.

Since you're interested in traveling, you'll probably love the huge discounts and tax savings you can get as a travel 'insider'. Others who want those discounts can become members of your team, giving you that passive and residual income I mentioned earlier.

You should be an animal rescue, all you really need is the passion and patients, also a house that you own. You know you also get paid by the government to that, just have to find out where you can start. Maybe if you call the game commission, maybe they can help you or at least where to go for something like that. Good Luck
