What are the signs to look for if you suspect a a young man (nearly 20) of being bisexual or gay?
Do a lot of straight men pierce their tongues or genitals?

Rita, the only way you will really know is if you ask him. Other than that one sign may be: He never dates or seems to be interested in the opposites sex.
People in the closet want to be there, but every once and a while they may inadvertently let something slip. Staring at men for one thing. Another: a complete absence of homophobia or just the opposite: homophobic behavior and attitude.
No, body piercing of any kind is not indicative of homosexuality or bisexuality.

Piercings use to be thought of as signs pointing out homosexulaity or bisexuality, but now it really doesnt have a direct link to it. Society today is in love with piercings and tattoos and heterosexuals get them just as much as gays and lesbians.

why are you looking for signs of bisexuality or homosexuality in this guys? are you interested in him? why don't you ask him, that is the easiest way. I don't think that the piercing has anything to do with being gay, actually piercing is more common among straights than gays in my personal experience.

Many straight guys have piercing. Instead of looking for signs...get on with your life and give the guys a break.
