I would like to know why some of the ignorant people on here feel it is necessary to put down and disrespect the greatest motorcycle of all time. Personally - I think they are just jealous because they are too broke to afford ANYTHING harley davidson!

just to put a few things to rest - I have been riding for 10 years (all Harley years). And would pay for the "name" even if it broke me! I am through and through - Harley Davidson. Complete loyalty. I say to each his or HER own, I have express my devotion to my bike and have not once bashed anyone else for riding what they choose....unlike some other people. That is the difference between confidence and ignorance!

Now this is my experience here. First off I own a Honda. I was talked out of a Harley before I bought my first bike. I now know why too. The people that talked me out of it, had a bad experience with Harley's when they were owned by that junk company years ago. A guy I work with rides Harley's and he gave me the history of it. They all rode Harley's when they were junk, so they feel the need to bash modern day Harley's.
Japanese vehicles are a little more famous for being reliable than american made vehicles. But knowing all this, I still own a ford truck, and am going to buy a Harley Road King as my next bike. I like both metric and american bikes

Wild Hog!! Your newbie is showing!!

We ride for different reasons. people don't buy Harley because they are the most reliable, cheap maintenance, and they run well. They buy them because the sound good, they vibrate, make allot of noise, some nostalgia, etc.

You probably don’t like racing and racing days ended for Harley the year Honda showed up. I like racing, I need a reliable performance bike. I believe in reliability and performance street or track out way the social aspects of riding which you find important.

This is all ok we ride for different reasons, that is it.
you will find this out as you ride longer.

Jealousy...maybe for some. As some of the answers stated it's nothing to do with the bike itself, but the person riding one.
You've got a Harley...great...you ride a Honda...great...you ride a Ducati...great. Shut up and ride PERIOD!

You go girl!! I'm a Harley Lover Myyself. Nothing like the sound of a Harley riding down the highway. Yes they are expensive, but well worth it!

Well, they make some pretty nice bikes but it's not secret that their motors use old technology and they are unreliable. Oil leaks are very common as well as many other maintenance issues. Jap bikes tend to last longer an be more reliabily.
Personally, if I had $25k to spend on a bike, I would buy a Ducati 1098 over a V-rod, but that's just me, and that's what floats my boat. I ride with a few Harley guys... just not my type of bike.
I must say that most ****** riders that I meet, are on harleys. maybe because they think they are better than non-harley riders. I've even got the finger from a few harley riders when waving to them while I was riding.

I love HD don't get me wrong. My husband is a certified technician. But sometimes you do end up paying more just because of the name. I am not taking away from the performance of the bike itself. Even people who can afford to own 4-6 of them babies will still complain about the price. It's just human nature. It doesn't mean that bike still don't look good and ride like a champ!

If you really, really like to ride, HD is JUNK! Always needing something, parts vibrating loose and possibly falling off (my shifter fell off while on an Interstate). I have owned 6 HD's (3 used, 3 new) and looking back all sucked. I assure you that I am not broke or jealous, actually I usually get a grin when I see someone who thinks they have some bad-*** horse, when I know what they are really riding some old-tech, piece of s**t. If you are so well off and proud, get your wallet out and buy a real machine.

If the price was triple what it is now...I would still only ride Harleys.I have rode all the other brands and nothing matches the feel.Don't pay any attention to those ignorant people. They are exactly that...Ignorant.

True, but everyone has their own opinion, I really don't care what others think.

I own a HD and my dad owns a Yamaha, both do the job, mine just look's pretty and his is just a Yamaha.

My HD has proven tobe more reliable than his bike in the long run.

i can't answer as to why people feel the need to bash Harleys. i love mine and wouldn't trade it for any TWO ricers or euro bikes.

it is a personality thing, i guess. i don't feel the need to lay on my stomach on the gas tank and blow down the road at 110MPH. i'd rather sit back, relax, and "roar" down the road at about 80 - LOL.
