Same reason you love a brother or sister that are jerks . They where family at one time and most people remember good and not bad things. That's love for you it never dies

I have the ultimate in a nightmare divorce. Even considering this, I still love the person that I was married to and who is the father of my children. I really do not like the rotten things he has done or who he has become. I believe that it is healthier to carry with you the love from a relationship, not hate. I am not saying that you need to share that with the ex.

Sometimes you might be scarred to realy let go, my ex was such a ****** and a lier when i think of him i just think of all the lies he told me,i dont feel anything for him whatsoever,I will never see him again which is the best way! But my first ever love i care about even tho i never see him and didnt treat me good,but if i saw him i would be nice to him coz he was my first and only true love maybe my ex wasnt.

It can simply be that you care about people in general. I have an ex who is absolutely horrid, yet I still care about his well being. I don't love him, but I care about him and want the best for him regardless of the fact that things didn't work out for us. It's called human nature.

I know exactly what you mean.I think it's because you shared a history with this person and at one time in your life you probably loved them.I am going through that right now.I don't love my husband(and I use that word loosely) but I do care for him deeply and I would not want any harm to come to him.

Because there is a "history" with them. Sometimes they share children. They can never completely forget the good times and there is always a connection between them.

It's the idea of being in a relationship with a person once you learn alot about a person and have contact with them you will care about them and what they do.
