This is a common problem caused by all of the soap, shampoo, shaving creme, toothpaste, hair and other items that are constantly run down the drain. The result is that smelly sludge build ups on the inside of your drain pipes.
An effective homemade remedy to alleviate this problem is to pour a cup of baking soda inside the drain. Follow this with a cup of vinegar, then let the solution set for thirty minutes. Finally, pour a kettle full of boiling water- if you have metal plumbing- or a kettle of hot tap water- for PVC plumbing- down the drain to help remove and rinse the sludge away. Do this at least once a month, and your drains should smell fresh

This is a simple, inexpensive and the best way to clean your sink drains, just use White Vinegar pour one cup down drain and pour about half cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup table salt (not iodized salt) down your drain do this over night then in the morning pour a kettle or pot of boiling water down the drain. Thats it your drain will be cleaned of soap residue and that awful smell, do this about once a week, this is the most effective on drains, then if you like you can in between cleanings you can use Baking soda or Borax with some hot water down the drain they will be sweeter smelling and clean.

Get your rubber gloves on for this one. If it's the garbage disposal side, take out the rubber thing and clean the underside of it with baking soda. It might have yukky stuff stuck to it. Soak it then scrub with a brush.
The best way to keep a drain sweet smelling is to put baking soda in it and let it stand for a good long time. You can shake it into your disposer regularly. Follow up with a combination of lemon slices, salt and ice cubes. Turn on the hot water and let the disposer do all the work.

Lemon and/or orange peels through the garbage disposal, run warm water and turn on. If you have no lemon/orange peels around, then use baking soda and vinegar. Both work great!

Advisable to first get it checked and disinfected or cleaned at least once by a professional plumber; After that, at any hardware store, you can find a solution to clear the sink, including bad odour!
