My Laptop is an Acer Aspire 5500Z model and i bought(accidentally) a DDR2 RAM which, coincidentally, matched the type of RAM on my laptop.

So, do I need to go to the service center for the experts to install it for me, or can I do it on my own?

With most laptops, there is a small door on the bottom of the laptop that you open. It will give you access to the memory slot(s) so that you can change the memory yourself. Check the Acer website and they should have instructions for your model if you are not comfortable doing it 'blind". Hopefully the memory you accidently purchased was laptop memory. Desktop size memory will not fit in a laptop.

As was said in the above answer it is fairly simple to do, it should only fit into one hole one way, like your PC...
