This is my first pregnancy and i am now 2 days over due and i am going understandably crazy awaiting for the big day. I have contractions and there was 3 times yesterday that they became painful and I started to think "this is it" and then they went away and this has been happening for a few weeks, just major braxton hicks. Last week i was completly thinned out, 1 cm dilated and the baby was at -1 station. I believe the baby is even lower now as i can hardly walk because it feels like my pelivs is going to break. Anyway i know there is no way to tell but in your oppinion do you think i will go into labor natrurally or will i need to be induced? Also i have lost bits and peices of my plug but i dont believe all of it has come out. THanks!!

I think eventually everyone will go into labor on their own. It's human nature. The doctors won't let you wait beyond the 2 week overdue window. Just sit back and relax, sleep alot. Because this is the quiet before the storm. Good luck with the labor and Congrats on the soon to be here baby!! :)

The average first time pregnancy, when NOT medically managed lasts 41weeks and 3 days. Meaning that some women go even LONGER than that. Even if you assume 40 weeks is the average some women got 38 and some go 42. Both are perfectly safe, and the rest of the world laughs at us for worrying at 40 and inducing at 41. And if you compare the American stillbirth and infant mortality rates with the rest of the world you would mock America too.

You WILL go into labour, eventually. The question is whether you are going to consent to an induction with all the risks involved because you are impatient and the American medical system is moronic.

I was walking around at over four centimeters dialated and still had to be induced to really get the ball rolling.

If you don't go into labor on your own, you won't be alone in that, by any means.

You say you know way to tell, and that's the only real answer any of us can offer you. There is absolutely no way to know, so we can either say that, or we can treat your question like a flip-of-the-coin thing, taking a total guess on whether the answer will be yes or no.

Considering the fact that you don't know and your doctor can't even know, nobody on here will be able to offer you any real answer.

I had my baby 4 days past my due date..... I didn't even make pland to be induced because the doctor wanted me to wait and go into laor on my own. I am glad I did because it only lasted a couple hours, rather than waiting all day after being induced! Walk Walk Walk......I was walking when my contractions started getting stronger and I went to the hospital and my water broke on it's own there at about 8:30 and at 10:41 I had my baby. I would wait and see how it goes, your doctor shouldn't let you go past 41 weeks. It will be soon enough. Good Luck

There is a possibly chance that they will have to induce your labor. My sister in law was doing the same thing and they put her in the hospital at like 6 one morning and was going to induce her labor but she went into labor herself and had the baby at like 6 that evening. So there still is a chance that you can go in labor yourself. Good Luck with the new baby and Congratulations!

It sounds like you will. Just remember your body naturally knows when it is time for birth. I am not a big fan of being induced. Just let nature takes its course. Good Luck!

Don't worry, you will go into labor. It may not be when you want to. When your baby is ready to see the world, he will come out.
