I'm in a contest sponsored by the "Guitar Center" stores where there may be as many as 6,000 competitors to see who is the best undiscovered blues guitarist in the USA. I'm a wee bit nervous, but I think I do have a chance at this particular competition - I just wondered if anybody had some brilliant advice for me so I do well. I am very prepared, but still... any words of wisdom would be welcome at this point. The first round for me is tomorrow night - I just broke a string on a guitar, and I think that's a sign of good luck, because now I need to put on a brand new set. Brand new set = "brand new day"? Wish me luck, and best wishes to all of you that do! - Paul

I do wish you luck! My hubby and I love the Blues and I feel a bit honored to answer your question! Don't try anything you haven't found to be tried and true, keep that great level of confidence you have going, and keep believing in your wonderful self...give 'em what they came to hear! God Bless! Annie

PS I'm a twin, and if I had been a boy, my name would have been Paul :)!

I'm not a musician, but my best advice is to play naturally. Be yourself. Don't try too hard, because you might over do it.

I am an American Idol Fan, and sometimes I notice that certain people have beautiful voices, but they try to hard rather than singing natural, and it doesn't sound good when it comes out.

If you are good, it will naturally show, so just keep practicing, and be yourself.

Good Luck!

Best of Luck....Smile alot when you walk in, be gracious, and pretend you're sitting on your couch with a bunch of friends having a little blues session. Remember you're playing for people that like the blues and they're looking for you to succeed, not fail...They're on your side!

You sound like you know what you want, you just need to hear it from others. So play with "Your Soul, " and Best Of Luck. Remember legends weren't born over night.
