You need not fear insects with stingers (bees, wasps, hornets, etc.) if you leave them alone. They will generally try to avoid you and concentrate instead on their task at hand (finding food, building nests, and so on), unless you bother them. The *only* times I've gotten stung was by accident (stepping on a bee while barefoot) or stupidity (trying to kill a wasp on the surface of my swimming pool by smacking down on it with my open palm).

So just steer clear of them and they'll generally do the same to you.

Yes, I"m ashamed to say I am. The logical part of me is a big girl and knows they won't hurt me without provocation. But the chicken (of rather, the frog) part of me jumps away when they come near. They have a mean buzzing sound and it's always so close! And those little wings are mean looking. And I know somewhere that little stinger is twitching, just iching to bite me!

Those are my biggest phobia! I'm terrifies of bees, wasps, hornets, all of them. I know people say don't bother them and they won't bother you, but heck, they will for sure bother you if they get stuck in your hair or get in your clothes! I got stung last summer when I mowed over a yellow jacket nest in the ground that I didn't know was there! I hate those things!

Hate them! I scream like a 6 year old if one flies past me.
