I've never heard of that happening.

The baby, the placenta, the cervical plug, it's all pretty secure in there.

Even though, to you, the baby seems to be a 5-armed hyperactive alien in there, his kicks and movement aren't really powerful enough to damage the placenta or detatch it from the uterine wall.

Well, I'm not a doctor, but I don't think a baby's kick is hard enough to dislodge the placenta. And if he is kicking the placeta, it's not a sweeping kick like we might think of. It's just his leg jutting out quickly- it would push against the placenta, not move it.

No.

Honestly, if a baby could detach itself by kicking its own placenta, the placenta would have detached on its own anyway, and was doomed from the beginning.

well your baby is in your placenta, so yes he can kick it. No i dont believe that he can kick so hard that it detachs. It usually is a complication with the placenta it's self that would cause it to detach early.

No, all that is normal. I've felt my girls stretching out in there. Not to worry Mom...the baby will kick harder as you get closer. Sounds healthy to me. The only risk you have for detachment, is if YOU fall. The baby can kick all he/she wants. Congrats.
