It's a matter of timing - time it was done and how long it took.

Pres Per Cont: I have been riding my bike. Actions that started in the past and continue in the present - Actions that have recently stopped Action taking place before a certain moment in time - puts emphasis on the course or duration of the action. You rode your bike over an extended time.

Pres Per: I have ridden my bike. Actions which happened at an indefinite (unknown) time before now. Actions in the past which have an effect on the present moment. Actions which began in the past and continues in the present.

Past: I rode my bike. Short actions in the past. Long single action in the past. A series of actions in the past Actions that happen one after another.
