Definitely try to avoid taking sides and falling into their games. Either separate yourself from them or politely change the subject whenever a conflict arises.

The only way I have found is to ignore them.
By giving their actions no attention they are effectively made powerless. If others follow your lead the situation will quickly find it's own solution. If it doesn't, then you are still in a better position because you will not be giving them the power to directly affect you.

If you're the boss just wait until you have a half-baked reason to let them go. If not then just ignore them as those kind of people usually hang themselves anyway.
