My daughter and I need to kill 5 hours while stuck in O'Hare and thinking about going to the mall. Also, do cabs have car seats for my 4 year old?

I don't want to rain on your parade, but if you have a lay over at an airport for less than a day, you should stay at that airport. Airports, especially one as large as O'Hare, have plenty of services and diversions available in the terminal to kill the time between flights, however if you leave the airport, there is absolutely no guarantee you will make it back in time for the connecting flight

I live right by Woodfield and I fly relatively often, and I would suggest not trying to make that trip in 5 hours. Seriously, it could take over an hour on some days to get from one place to the other, after waiting for a cab outside, then maybe another hour to get back to O'Hare if the weather or traffic is bad or it is the wrong time of day or if there is a concert about to start at Rosemont, then you have to go through security all over again which can take 15 minutes to an hour, simply depending on traffic that day. Yes, there are days and times when it is not unreasonable to do it in five hours, but in Chicagoland you never know what the traffic or weather is going to be like in a few hours.

Sorry to rain on your parade, Woodfield is great and totally worth the trip sometime, but I would save it for when you are actually visiting Chicago.

As someone mentioned, there are restaurants and things to "do" in O'Hare during your lay-over~~~ and you can always try to fly stand-by on an earlier flight that will get you out of the airport sooner that five hours. I have done that before, and it gave me an extra 10 hours in NC on vacation! Just ask when you land if your airline has any open seats on an earlier flight.

Also, I don't think I have ever noticed a cab having carseats. You'd have to call the company and ask....

I agree with the above post, why even leave, especially with a four year old. I would think Ohare would have a kids area too, most large airports do. If they have a tram or something too, just go on a ride thru the airport.

It will be about $30 each way. Allow about 1/2 hour for each way, slightly more if during rush hour times. Not sure about car seats, but ask when you call. That should give you about 3 hours worth of shopping.
