If you're being paid by the hour, it's usually not a high paying job. Higher paying jobs pay by the year, or by some form of commission and royalties, or by the project like an architect.

Some people who are self employed charge a lot by the hour, but they usually end up paying rent out of that, and other overheads.

Doctor (and related like surgeon and dentist) go to med school, lawyer goes to law school. Then there are architects, psychologists and a few specialties.

Most other University type jobs don't need a specific degree. Of course, science grads tend to make more than arts grads (Math and engineering is the most) when they are employees. But the richest people are not employees at all.

A plumber gets paid well, and a few other blue collar jobs. They aren't degree related, but they each have their own qualifications you need to get.

If you're just money motivated, and you want a secure income that you don't have to worry about, I'd say plumber, electrician, or driving instructor. Degrees don't help you get jobs, they help you think in a way that might help you get jobs.
