Can't people accept that I am happy and secure being single forever?

Mia...wrong! Not everyone NEEDS another mate to be fullfilled in life and happiness. I have been through many relationships and am done...not looking now or ever.

Honey, I get you--LOUD AND CLEAR!

We live in a weird world. In mine, I've had family members who were really bothered by the fact that I'm 47, single STRAIGHT and not interested in "coupling". I'm not adamantely opposed to a relationship but at this stage of my life, I'm more interested in establishing one with someone I've not paid much attention to over the years.......ME.

I used to be so damn co dependent. I didn't feel safe or OK unless I was in a relationship and I even fell for the F-d thinking that a bad relationship is better than none at all.

The problem in this case isn't yours...your reason for remaining single are yours and therein, right for you at this particular time. The problem is with the needy friends and relatives. They're uncomfortble being around a singular thinker. They're insecure and find safety in numbers...you
know--as in other couples. You're an indepedent...a free thinker...maybe even a iconoclastic heretic in their eyes and for some deep seeded reason, that scares the hell out of them..

You stick to your guns. Be honest and admit what you want--to remain single and don't give in to the selfish demands of others. They're incredibly rude not adereing to your wishes.
By hooking you up, it makes them feel better.

Tell them once and for all that if they insist on trying to set you up after clearly stating your desires not to be, then you don't see how you can continue being in their circle of friends or family if they don't respect what you want.

You are probably quite a nice person. I do not think they mean any harm and it is because of your personality and all the other positive things they know about you that they think you will make someone a great companion/husband.

Just ignore them and eventually they will stop. By the way, will you marry ME? Just kidding (lol).

hmm
I cant accept that, not you saying it.
Thats a sad lonely road.
You may change your mind in 5 years. Tell them you will elt them know when you are ready.
Then again, why cant you have friends? You may actually develop something you dont think is there.

No, people can't accept that. They want you to be as miserable as they are lol.

I'm sure they mean well, just smile and tell them "No Thanks"
