i had one done last week at 28 weeks pregnant. It was wonderful to see the baby and we found out it was a girl. There really wasn't any doubt, as I could see clearly between her legs! she got a bit fed up with all the prodding after a while and turned her back on us, so i asked the sonographer to stop. Great experience tho, i highly recommend it

It depends how far along you are.
I went for a 3D scan at 12 weeks and although I didn't find out the sex, I was told 90% accuracy at 12 weeks, rising to 95% accuracy at 13 weeks. So I guess anytime after that it's totally accurate.
I would imagine a 3D scan is more accurate than a normal scan as they can see in a lot of detail.

The determination of the sex after 16 weeks is pretty accurate unless the baby is in a position where it is not visible.
At my Drs office, they did the regular US to see most measurements and when they went to the 3D my baby boy had turned towards my back and we couldn't get a shot of his face ;(
But they are quite accurate if you have someone experienced. With my daughter, it was our first and had no idea what to look for. With this baby, a boy, as soon as she started it I said, ITS A BOY and she said I was right, hubby was like ohhh what where? I had looked at pics of ultrasounds online previously so I could know what to look for ;)

There weren't 3d scans when i had my babies but i asked with my 3rd because i went alone to the scan and they were spot on even with ultrasound. Would've thought with the new 3d ones it's almost impossible to tell you the wrong sex.
Good luck to you and i hope the baby hasn't got his or her legs crossed.. lol.

in the adventure that your infant is in a undesirable place then they gained't have the skill to tell you the intercourse regardless which test you %. Weight around the abdomen additionally very much impacts the two form of scans ; in the adventure that your weight become a controversy with the 1st test this is going to nonetheless be there with the 2d test. You certainly ought to be certain if its worth paying money just to be certain the intercourse and you will possibly no longer discover out in the top the two looking on infants place ( you have not got any administration over that).

I is very accurate... and you get a video after. It's a nice memory for you and your husband. It's also very impressive to see how much you can recognise the face of the baby once he is born.... however (my sister had one done)... it is very boring to watch when it's not your own child!!! Have a great mother's day!

at 14 weeks I had one... they are pretty sure it's a girl. Will have another on the 20th when I'm 18 weeks... so I guess I'll know then, but I really don't think the 3d part matters.

The lady that did my ultrasound at 22 weeks did the first part in just the plain 2d ultrasound, that was the bottom part of her body, belly, feet, ect. It was still pretty obvious that it was a girl. Then when we got up to her face, the lady turned it to 3D and we got to see her. I'll show you...
Here's the 2D one: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b320/CSCT0889/its%20a%20girl/ash027.jpg
Here's the 3D one: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b320/CSCT0889/its%20a%20girl/ash025.jpg
The whole experience was pretty amazing. You can see everything with the 3D, and it's pretty awesome. We got to see her yawn, and stretch out her fingers. It was just great. Good luck with yours, and I hope you're having what you wanna have, I'll pray for a healthy baby for you though too : ). Good luck and God bless!
