Being raised in the South, surrounded by MANY different branches of Christianity (and other religions as well), your case for religion doesn't hold water with me at all. I have seen pastors booted out many times, church members leave to join other churches, churches split into two different churches, the list goes on. That hardly qualifies as a dictatorship.
If I had to pick one aspect of life that might, I think it would be healthcare. Obviously not for all of us, but I have noticed that a lot of people seem to think their own doctor is God, and put far too much faith in everything he or she says when they should really be getting a second opinion.

Usually a dictatorship occurs after socialism has taken control of the population.
The government does not elect new people every few months so why should a church. Wise up.
Most churches do have some sort of election process. Maybe it isn't as often as you like but you obviously have something against religion.

Most Evangelical churches elect deacon councils every year. Those deacons constantly review the work of pastors and hear complaints from other church members so I would debate your assertion there. The place most of us accept dictatorship is from the medical profession. Very few people that I know question their doctors. When I question mine, he seems shocked that I would question his judgment about my medical needs.

Our land has been beset by a twisted version of Christianity that spreads itself like a virus through the use of psychological terrorism. Various groups and sects comprise the Religious Right and the Dominionists, the carriers of this contagion. While the individual groups and leaders vary to some extent in beliefs and tactics, their goals are closely aligned. These modern day crusaders have relentlessly pursued the persecution of gays, and hence provided the Oligarchs with the scapegoat that a tyranny needs in order to thrive. Fortified by the hubristic belief that theirs is the one true religion, and that Jesus guarantees them a place in heaven, members of the Religious Right feel confident that they possess the "manifest destiny" to impose their agenda on the rest of America. They have grossly abused their tax exempt status with their forays into the political arena. The Religious Right is also threatening to corrupt our secular public institutions with their "truth", which they derive from selective interpretation of the Bible. Someone needs to remind them that truth is not easily plumbed from a book which the Church revised many times throughout history for the purpose of manipulating the masses.

Every day at work. If you work. Churches are built by the parishioners and the preacher is hired. You obviously know little about religion or freedom. LIBERAL.

More aspects than six years ago.
Can you imagine I hear many people say, "I don't mind if the govt. taps my phone, it's my part for the 'War on Terror'"?
Perhaps if the govt. actually investigated real leads on terrorism and did less surveillance on EVERYBODY in the country, they'd get somewhere in the supposed war.

I am willing to accept your apparent prejudice against religion. That is your right.
What I struggle to accept is your apparent desire to impose your prejudice on everyone else...thereby infringing in their rights.
That, by definition, is dictatorship.
But thanks for the two points!
