I'd have to say the "now" part. It wasn't that long ago that I was a teenager, and I always wanted to put things off. I was always saying "I'll do it later," but I never did. Teenagers grow up. I bet that you were like that too.

There's only three things a teen doesnt understand about that statement:
do: implies some sort of action (a foreign concept to teens)
it: teens obviously don't know what "it" is
now: the here and now can't be put off till tomorrow, obviously not a part of their vocab

The Do It part--I think....most of all I think it is just something in a parents voice that a teenager tunes out.

The part that says "Do". Also, to a teenager, "now" can mean anywhere from "right this instant" to "whenever I get to it".

Are you having problem with your teenager ! Welcome !
They understand, except it takes a little bit longer to enter their brain ! (Like maybe and hour or two) lol
My teenagers answer: What difference does it make, I'll get it done later anyway !

Well, having a couple of those teens myself I'd have to say the DO........IT..........NOW part. They don't hear well when you put these 3 words together! I just turn off their internet, that gets their attention quick!

The part describing what kind of work it entails, only if it is entertaining will they get it and when it's from a friends dare.

The whole thing. It just hurts the ears. Try saying don't forget to do it...that sounds a lot better even though it still hurts.

When coming from someone of "authority" they DO NOT understand do it now... All they hear is blah, blah, blah... Kind of like when Charlie Brown's teacher used to talk, that waa waa waa waa we heard, that's what teenagers hear when we talk.
