I have a close close old friend , we met when we were both 16 and have had pretty much parallel lives , so when i moved out at 19 it was a little odd when she didn't come with . Now on our 23 rd birthdays she admits to me that she's really wanted to but , being that it's not in her nature to not just figure things out on her own didn't tell me what was really going on . Her mother has piled bills on her backed by various threats , so many so that she's had to sell her car to get out of the hole . Her father says that if she moves out they'll stop helping her pay for school (college)and expect her to pay them back up to this point . It seems i don;t know what to tell her , has anyone been in the situation or does anyone have any advice for us on how to help her move out and still be able to go to school ?

First of all, her parents can't make her pay back the money they've given her for school unless she signed an agreement to do so. She can apply for government loans, and grants in order to complete her education. She may need to get a job to help with her living expenses, but many young people, in college, do this all of the time. Not everyone has a family to help them, so she needs to pick herself up, and just move forward with her life. In time, her family will get over this, and things will work out. Best of luck to both of you!

Are the bills from her parents in her name. If they are not then they are not her responsibility. If the are go see a financial adviser. They will help you budget you bills and help lower the interest rate on some of them. There are some free one in areas. They can also help you find grants for school also have her check with the college and see if the have a work program where you work for the school to pay for classes. This works nice because they know your class schedule and will work around it... Good Luck

First of all college is not an issue they have tons of grants and loans that she can get through school just talk to her finical Aide and as to move out she doesn't owe her parents anything for putting her though school it was their choice to do it. If your willing to take her in than do it and help her out til she gets her own place. but the longer you wait the longer it's gonna take for her to get out of the mess she's in right now.

Her parents are using her. She needs to move out. There are ways to pay for college without her parents help. It will be hard but worth it in the end.
