The acceleration due to the Earth's gravitational pull is generally 9.80665 m/s^2.

There are a few formulas that are often used when dealing with gravity.

g = M*G / r^2
where M = mass of an object, G = gravitational constant (6.6742+-0.0010)*10^(-11) m^3 / (kg*s^2), r = distance from center of the object. This solves for g, which is the gravitational acceleration towards an object.

The attractive force (F) between two objects (m1 & m2) is directly proportional to the square of the distance (d) between them as seen in the formula
F = G * (m1 * m2) / d^2

Now for the one who stated that the complete scientific explanation of gravity has not been discovered yet, is a little mistaken or worded it improperly. The complete scientific explanation of the interaction of gravity and objects has fully been identified. The issue is why this phenomena occurs, has yet to be fully explained. The why is not what is being asked here.

The most promising theory involves the curvature of space time.

The force of gravity is the attraction between two bodies which both have mass.

All objects of mass exert grvitational force on all other objects of mass, just the bigger the mass the more 'pull' it has.

Force=mass x acceleration

substitute acceleration for gravity, and you get=

Force= mass x gravity

Gravity's acceleration is a constant roughly 9.9 meters per second, so force will be dependent on mass.
