I have a SP,RP eligible pitcher (he's a setup guy, not a closer) whom I had slotted to be one of my two RP. I read he will be moved into the starting rotation this season where he'll likely stay. Is this automatically Good news or Bad news for me? Or is it "Remains To Be Seen" news?

It was auto-drafted. A few teams swept up 5-6 closers. There are no definite closers left out there. And yes I'm making trade offers.

A lot depends on who this pitcher is. Since you mention he is a setup guy I am thinking he has a pretty good K/BB ratio and could prove to be a solid starter. So it looks like you have a lot of starting pitching, shop a quality starter for a good closer and see what you can come up with. If not then just sit tight and wait for this years crop of previously unknown closers to emerge. There are plenty of teams out there that have not settled on a closer so ther will be 5 or 6 closers who we never heard of before emerging this year (just like every other year...who knew about Saito, Putz, Gonzalez, Cordero or Chris Ray before last season). Follow the Devil Rays situation closely and jump on whoever wins the closer job there and keep an eye on teams like SF, Arizona, Florida, Boston and Cincinnati, all have open closer jobs.

I have to go with remains to be seen. Personally I think that it would be wrong to have a guy listed as a reliever on draft day and then have your whole bullpen turned upside down and force you into a move. I would go with you "remains to be seen news" My gut says he will remain as an RP for the season. Look at Pappelbon it was well documented that he was going to start way before the drafts started and he was still under RP. I think you will be okay. Good Luck, messtograves

It depends, setup guys do not typically post huge numbers, so I would think it would be a positive. A good pitcher is a good pitcher, so I would hang on to them if they are quality and see where it goes. The only problem is now you might have too many starters and be forced to make a decision.

It's good because if you could only have two SP to play a day and two of your pitchers and the SP/RP are starting the same day. You could put him at RP and have three starting picthers that day.

I would say it is bad news if he was one of two RP's you had. I am also wondering why you would slot a set up man instead of grabbing a closer?

If he was only a set-up man then the move to starting pitcher is better for you. I wonder if you are talking about Braden Looper from the Cardinals?

It's still early in spring training. If it's Paplebon he's going into the starting rotation. You may want to hold onto him to see if he's going to produce from that position. He could possibly be good trade bait.

SP's a million. C.C. 2. vast Z!!! 3. Nolasco 4. Josh Johnson 5. Brett Myers RP's a million. Lidge (duh) 2. KW Wait on Joba until eventually he proves himself. Then use him instead of between the Marlins. save Morrow for at the same time as Woody receives damage.

neither, because that player will most likely be a RP until the end of the season. so no worries bro.

this will lack saves, so that will b bad. It depends on how good he is with ERA and WHIP. If this person is Adam Wainwright, you should be okay. If his stats are bad, try to pick up a reliever or ask for a trade.
