Say what you want about "Slick Willy..." Conservatives seem to use the lie he told to protect his marriage as a rebuttal every time there is a new scandal in the Bush administration. It seems like the only reason we forget about a Bush scandal is because a new one takes the stage... from misuse of intelligence (or even manipulating the CIA??? we'll never know because we put way more energy into finding out whether Clinton got a BJ than whether Bush intentionally misled us into war) to illegal wiretaping, prison scandals, "rendering," entering the war without a plan "B", now Libby's conviction, etc. etc. it seems like a case might be made for impeachment, but there seems to be little support in Congress. Is this because nobody wants Cheney at the helm?

For those making assumptions; I am NOT a liberal, I am, however, a veteran of the Iraqi invasion, feeling duped by our government.

I would take most of the rest of the current congressional term to get an impeachment going, in the mean time the country is falling apart.

I am an independent I really have no time for any of our current crop of politicians.

The difference is, Clinton committed an offense. He lied to a grand jury which is perjury. The Senate decided, rightly or wrongly, that the offense was not serious enough for him to be punished.

Bush has not been accused of any crime. Just because so many hate him is not a crime. There are lots of people shouting impeachment but no one has so far, at least that I have read, put forward a constitutional basis for this. Lying is not grounds for impeachment. Even lying before a grand jury (perjury) is not grounds for impeachment using precedence.

So, the answer is, there is little support for impeachment because there are no grounds for impeachment.

I won't make an assumption, I'll just go with the facts as I see um.
going by your rant, you sound like a lib. If it quacks...

the Bush "scandals" you see are being manufactured by the enemy drive-by media. The only real scandal is that he hasn't fought back as much as he should have. I know of a medium sized crowd of liberal politicians, activists, and so-called journalists, and one former clinton national security advisor/sock-stuffer who should currently be serving prison terms for various forms of treason.
If willieboy haden't been so wrapped up getting slick with an intern, he might have had more time to give to address all the screw-ups in his administration that led to 9-11.
And Libbys "conviction" (by a jury of democrat activists, wannabe book writers, and personal friends of prosecution witnesses) was a joke. The real criminals are wilson and his *****.

BTW, I would LOVE to see Dick Cheney "at the helm". I wish he were running in '08.

Edit: sorry, after more thought, the correct phrase above would be Plame and HER *****. we know who wears the pants.

They know that they have no evidence that Bush did this illegally, Because he didn't. Why don't you go ahead and see how many "operations" Mr. Clinton had done and ask yourself why those weren't reported on like Iraq is. And in Iraq our objective was reached, we removed Saddam and now he's dead.

Face it the Dems don't have and idea what they are doing, and lie to you people to win your votes.
And as far as you being a veteran. Thank you for serving our country and I'm sorry you feel duped by our government. But that don't make evidence against Bush to get him impeached.

Let's say that every Democrat in Congress believes Bush is guilty. They still owe the nation a duty, and our nation is at war. Even if they think he is guilty, they might find it more expedient to leave him in office and control the purse-strings, just to save our nation the cost and drama of impeachment. Remember, if he has committed crimes, he can be charged after leaving office. And I seriously doubt that Cheney has anything to do with it.

But I think the real reason Congress doesn't impeach Bush, is that there is no evidence that he has committed any crimes. Simply not liking his position is not a reason for impeachment.

Simple, lack of evidence!

We have a rule of law in this country. In order to be charged with anything, it is necessary to have sufficient evidence to substantiate a charge.

Partisanship is not evidence of anything. It is simply evidence of the blind hatred and hysterical Bush-Bashing of the extreme left.

The Democratic Congress is well aware of this and, upon taking office in January, publically announced that impeachment is not "on the table".

Maybe because the people in congress know a little more about the law than us commoners and realize there has not been an impeachable offense?

Smarter people in the House now and they see the harm the circus impeachment of Clinton caused. It weakened the country and made the GOP look like buffoons. We have more important things to do besides tying up the country in another protracted freak show.

Many conservative loyalists tend to cherry-%. stats and evidence that favors their slant whilst ignoring the rest that ought to in all probability run opposite to their view. whether, that's going to be spoke of that impeaching Bush and Cheney this late interior the 2d term is somewhat pointless. additionally, whether there have been sufficient evidence of against the regulation, there are not sufficient votes interior the Senate to actual convict. Political bias is a huge element in determining the consequence, only because it grow to be the final time around (Clinton).

I am sorry you feel duped by the government and you have my heartfelt thanks for serving in our military...But, just because you feel "duped", that does not make an impeachment........There has to be a crime for congress to begin impeachment process and I think they've struck out!!!
It's a real shame they used this platform to win over the american people and gain control of congress.
