I really like the way it is set up now. When a small school makes a run besides all the millions they get from the NCAA it bolsters there overall applications the following year. College Basketball is not in my top 5 favorite sports , but the tournament is maybe my second favorite event. TC messtograves

I could see that as a possibility.
However the mid majors wouldn't have the ticket draw the big schools bring in. Most arenas and NCAA are going to want the big money maker games. As for the teams I would think it would be better. It would give the smaller schools a chance for national exposure while playing teams that are closer to their own size.
I think that if they did this arrangement the major tournament should be dropped to 32 teams. I think too many teams are considering it a given that they will go to the NCAA tournament.
That would set up a 32 team Major division and a 32 team mid majors. Then let the two winners play. But as I said, NCAA isn't going to make the big money on the mid's. With them, it's all about money.

Sorry, this is a tournament that looks to settle a national title, if you can't get a winning record in 16 games in just your conference, maybe you don't deserve a shot...I'm tired of people who are fans of the big 6 schools arrogance...remember when UNLV was running the roost, they couldn't handle it so they sent everything at Tarkanien they could to destroy that. Funny how every year, the suppossed mid majors win more and more games once they get into the tounrey but get less and less births. I think majors like Syracuse need to stop losing at home to teams like Drexel or at least be man enough to play some road games non con before we start worrying they got snubbed, same with all the majors, THEY HAVE FAR MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO WIN BIG GAMES SO IF THEY DON'T, IT'S NOT BECAUE THEY WEREN'T GIVEN A SHOT!!! With their 5 seed, do you see Duke, or Cuse or any of the big money schools giving Butler a home and home any time soon????? PS, Duke as a 6 seed is a joke, they should have been a bubble team

Because half the excitement of the tournament is seeing underdog teams try to win. It would suck to have a great regular season and then be told oh since you're in the wrong league no National Title shot for you. They have the NIT for a reason.

Way too many games. It would take far too long too. It's also Many people act as if the "mid-majors" are a bunch of neglected and abused teams. If they are a Division I team then they have to be prepared to play bigger schools. That being said, there have been plenty of smaller schools that have made their mark. George Mason and Gonzaga come to mind, but there are others.

That's not an answer to teams being left out of the tournament. What would be an answer is that the teams that do get left out quit whining about it. Everyone gets left out sooner or later.
Even Jim Boeheim's mighty Syracuse Orange.

Michigan State. they on the instant are actually not basically engaging in to win all of it, yet are engaging in for a whole city and state which desire somthing stable to % for them real now. hi, if Texas Western might desire to overcome perrenial powerhouse Kentucky, something can take place.
