Although this movie is in no way a "historical" work, history does tell us that in ancient times, they fought nude. This is not found only in Greek history, but is prevalent there. Additionally, the soldiers formed bonds that were not unlike that of what we consider "lovers". They did this to create an almost unbreakable bond of loyalty. It is evdient in the way they fought and protected one-another.
