it really depends where you live...
(i just saw that you're from or around Los Angeles...there should be endless places to choose from there...check the website(s) below and look for ratings to see what other people thought of the place)

i prefer places that are authentic, original, ethnic, and locally owned...and not chains like Happy Wok, China Express, etc...but it's all a matter of taste.

if you live in the US...check here:
http://www.chineserestaurantsonline.com/Default.aspx

also check here:
http://www.restaurantrow.com/index.cfm
(this one lists all restaurants and not just chinese, so you'll have to narrow your search)

Try this place "jade" on rosemead blv in rosemead california. I 've gone there for the last five years for the most authentic chinese I've ever tasted in america. They are also very affordable.

I suggest a locally owned and run restaurant. They care more about what they serve than how many/much they serve, usually. Sometimes you can even get unique dishes that are not offered at a chain.

Monterey Park, Alhambra, Pasadena, and Arcadia are cities with quite a few Asian immigrants. I would, if I were you, take a drive, if you do not live in one of these cities, and follow your nose: Eat in only places that customers are mostly Asian; another key is places that sign outside is not in English.
