My laptop is not working All it says is operating system error how do I fix it without the instalation disk?

It is An compaq evo 670 with windows xp pro

Well, I had a desktop that I bought which was a returned unit that had that same message, however, when I opened the case up, I discovered that the hard drive wasn't connected to the power source.. However; unless your laptop is new, OR, unless it has received some very heavy abuse lately, that may not be the problem..

Buy a new laptop...yours is crap.
