11/12 - 1/5 = 55/60 - 12/60 = 43/60

43/60 is in lowest terms, and hence is the solution.

Convert the numbers into a common denominator.
You do this by prime factoring to get the common denomnator to 60.
Then it becomes 55/60- 12/60=43/60
Since there is no need to simplify it remains 43/60

{11(5)-1(12)}/60
