Has anyone had any experiences with bailiffs, good or bad. What happened was they as nasty as we hear about. I think its daylight robbery and it should be banned.Theres other ways to pay back money rather then have your stuff flogged at an auction.

I bought a car in good faith about 10 Years ago (before checks were readily available) which turned out to be on finance through the guy I bought it off (I had paid in full). 3 months after I bought it, I had two bailiffs turn up at my door at 630am, (with 2 Coppers). They dragged the car on to the back of the recovery vehicle after I refused to give them the keys and sold it at auction that same day. By the time I had spoken to solicitors and found that they couldn't actually do this, it was too late - Mind you, the finance Company had to pay me back the money I lost plus compensation. It would have been better for them all if the bailiffs had given me chance to get advice in the first place as the finance Company actually lost more as the car was sold at auction for a massive loss. They are tossers

To reach the stage of bailiffs coming a knocking, you will have had so many chances to have sorted the debt out beforehand. I see many programmes about debt and bailiffs and all the poeple have all thought the same, "if I hide the letters and ignore them, they'll go away" Wake up, they don't! They send so many letters for credit debts, oyu have ample opportunity to get a replayment plan in place before you get to the bailiffs stage. They are last resort.
And those people like the girl on TV this morning, doesn't realise that when they are in debt and living with family or house sharing, they are screwing with the credit files of the others in that household! She's screwed up her friends credit file as well as her brothers, how will they view her when they find that one out, the programme failed to mention that!

some bailiffs can be very sympathetic to your plight but some are arrogant.Never answer your door if you know they are there if you cant afford to make a payment arrangement. They cannot enter your property even with a police officer with them unless they have a warrant to enter which is very unlikely. If you let them enter then they can take an inventory of your belongings and ask you to pay off the debt within a ridiculous amount of time, if you dont pay up they will collect your stuff.check out national debtline on google for more info on types of bailiffs

I had some a few years back and the worse thing was that they knocked on my door while I was out and charged me for that visit!!!! When they came the next time I let them in and arranged a payment plan with them. I can't believe that they are allowed to charge extortionate fees just to knock on your door and the majority of people who have bailiffs coming round are already in the poor house and need their fees like a hole in the head.

Unfortunately the bailiff is the last resort for repayment of bad debts. If that has happened all other "ways" have been tried and failed. Should have paid up when the other "ways" were brought up.

if u get ballifs at the door first and most importantly unless they are accompanied by the police DO NOT let them in they have no leaglly have a leg to stand on they can nott enter your premesises with out ur permmision
second if u are in that much debt go to the C.A.B they will help u for free

ballifs use scare tactics don't give in tothese tactics they can't do nethin at all
also sell ur stuff to ur parents or a friend for a pound this is one way to get around them taking ur possesions

They came round to see my Dad once, claiming there was outstanding rent money owed on an office he was hiring.

The good thing was though that he had left this office 2 months previously and thus owed nothing, but they had appeared to miss this in their report!

It was very satisfying to see their faces drop when they realised they had to leave empty-handed!! :D

Lots of times. Nasty bully boys who try to intimidate you. With half a r s e quote about the law.Never let them in,always scream and say they touch/hit you.. If they turn up with the police try to wait for the policeman to be distracted before screaming,"he hit me".They tend to slither away...... .Always deal direct with the people you owe.Every last one a soulless bully and a coward............................
