Here, here. People with this money get so obsessed with the status it gives them (usually only in the 'upper echelons' of society) that they just have to keep making more. It makes me sick! I'm not a communist or anything - if you work hard, why not reep the benifits? - but no one needs that much money! I think these people get so immersed in their indulgent life, they forget about normal people who keep the infrastructure of this country working smoothly! They could do soooooo much to help disadvantaged people and still have a comfortable life style - they need to come down out of the clouds! Rant over!

I know I will be unpopular but I dont agree.
Pop stars and footballers are over paid idiots and I dont think it is fair to put John Elliott in the same bracket as them.
He is a slef made millionaire who has worked hard for his money.
He didnt want to give the couple too much money as he is right, they made their own debt through frivilous spending. Why should he give them the money when they are there out of there own making. They are good people however and I see why he helped them.
The black guy - think his name was andy - the best thing for him was a job.
I would say that he could have given more to the asylum place but its his money.
He does give money away to charities, he said that at the start.
He is someone we should look up to - tory or not - he is the perfect role model for us not Posh and Becks and the like. Please dont be horrible about him. He's just a guy like you and me that made a lot of money. Its up to him how he spends it.

Who exactly do you mean by "We?"
Some of us know better... Which is exactly why every time a celebrity comes on here to mix and mingle with the rest of us poor slobs, I have no problem tearing them a new as*shole.
Especially Bono and Leotardo De Craprio... What tools! Bono and his flying half way across the world during a fuel crisis to pick up his lucky hat before going on stage to perform and then asking questions about world hunger and poverty on here...
and then leotardo asking what we can do about global warming when he probably has Brazilian cherry wood flooring all through his 16 homes all over the world... Which don't count... because he killed those trees BEFORE he jumped on the Al Gore bandwagon!
They are all insensitive trash with very narrow views of the real world. Which is strange considering they came from it!
But you know what? I believe that the same people who praise, and lift up the celebrities far past what they deserve to Demi-God's, are probably the same kinds of people who put down politicians like Hillary Clinton.
Maybe she hasn't done much for healthcare... yet but at least she had a voice and a vision and is consistantly working toward a goal that is only far off because of those who would profit off the alternative, current state of healthcare. The Physicians, the insurance companies and the Pharmaceutical companies...
Famous people back Al Gore... Pig-man-bear! With his cliams of global warming and rediculous rants about how he helped discover the internet!
Figures...
What douche-bag's!

i have to agree i liked the show on tv, but at the same time i thought he wasn't one of the nicer ones on the show. the first lad was great, he was only 24, and had loast all his money and made it back again. he donated the most out of them all and had the least. he gave his money in the youth centre to help others have a better start in lift, he gave some to a lad to start a business with and coached him along the way. he gave more money out to a figure of the community and then still stayed in touch with the people at the youth centre and went there on weekends to spend time with them. i think he ended up giving away 50k, but planned to gve away 20k.
i didnt agree with that john bloke (think it was him) giving that lad a trainee job but making him move 100+ miles for it away from family and friends and everything - he was probably only on a apprentices wage, £60 per wk? with all the money he had he could've helped him a bit more.
i read somewhere angelina jolie gives 1/3rd of the money she makes from her films to charity. and although it's only a third and she doesnt need even that much its more than most celebrities give.

The government should be building Hospitals - not millionaires!
If our country wasn't so screwed by Labour then it might be possible. It is not there responsibility to do so. They have worked hard for their money - who are we to take it from them?!
Would you give your wealth to build a hospital - I wouldn't. It's all well and good buying it then you have the running costs etc and to be honest - Hospitals are moneypits - no matter how much is invested in them - they will always need more.
Most of this is due to the abuse of the NHS. Herion addicts needing methadone/.councilling/rehab - grossly obese people needing gastirc bypass/heart attacks/"food adiction" rehab, Drunks, kids out on a weekedn thinking they are kings/queens of the worls drinking cheap booze using cheap drugs and needing thier stomachs pumped/ bones fixed, weekend drunks fighting each other in the streets of the town centres - the list goes on!
There are people who need the NHS but if the government continue to allow these cretins to abuse it - it will soon go Private; just like the US.

Money tends to accumulate money. Plus his skills may be in making money, not in spending it.
And sometimes small amounts can start people off better than having huge amounts.
Giving it to a hospital sounds a lovely idea, but if the existing poor management structure that got a hospital in debt still exists, then that money will likely be frittered away and wasted.

Because we aspire to the same life they have. Nobody aspires to be holding out a hat for money while you strum on a guitar. Its not just famous people, wealth is accumulated by many. Its strange though how alot of famous people end up in rehab or have breakdowns. Money and fame isn't everything.
Give me a life full of love and self-peace any day.

I hate corrupt greedy people but admire people who have done well through effort. If I had millions I would make sure my family were sorted, there will always be failures and poor people. I think I would buy lots of homes and rent cheap to genuine British families who can`t get on the property ladder giving them a place to call home instead of renting to make money of the foreign invasion.

I've absolutely no idea!!!
Plus they get major freebies from companies to advertise their brands - yet they can afford them!
Noticed in paper the Posh & Becks are being adultated for giving 600k to charity - don't get me wrong that's great that they do this but surely that is not a real dent in their bank balance.
Every day people do lots for charity but don't get credit for it. Not just donating money but also donating time etc....
