hello everybody
new to networking i would like to know if every router has its own way of configuration and if so i would be grateful if someone gives me only an example

Yes every router has its own way of configuration, with D-LINK it's not complicated. You first must know the IP address of that router, then try to browse via IE or firefox to that IP address.
You don't need configure it via command line. it's web based menu. You must configure your computer to have an ip address in one subnet with router's IP. Let say your router's IP is 192.168.1.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0 then you can assign your computer's ip to 192.168.1.10 subnet 255.255.255.0 to make it possible to configure the router.

Well, generally they are all web based configuration pages, some linksys routers have a cd that you use to config the router but after you've done that you can manage it by going to the routers web interface. It would be helpful for us to know what make and model router you have if you want more help
