of me not to support red nose day because I think too much of the money raised is used for charities overseas, rather than giving it to charities in this country ?

I think you should be able to support whatever charity you want, that's the whole point. Someone is benefitting no matter who, that's the main thing.

I agree with you. The amount of money that gets raised for overseas projects compared to the charities of this country is phenomenal.
I'm also sick of the pressure from having to constantly put in £1 for charity events at work! Also, my sons school has charity days and he HAS to donate £1 to take part for Jeans for Genes day etc. That's not donation if you have to do it!
We should deal with our own problems before we look to solve everyone else's.

I kind of thought the whole idea of charity is to help those less fortunate than yourself. So while im sure your country has problems Im going to guess they arent anywhere near as bad as some of the problems overseas. I mean, your asking questions on yahoo so im going to guess your not dying from malnutrition or from drinking diseased water.
But no i dont think its wrong to not support red nose day. Just so long as you remember that even though there are problems in the developed world there not half as bad as those in third world countries

Not at all, you are obviously not a hypocrite and you do what is right for YOU. I agree with you totally, I dont support Red nose day either except for my sons school who demand a £1 for the kids to have a uniform -free day. He would suffer if I didnt comply.
I do give all my inwanted stuff to the charity shops and I do give what I can, when I can to my favourite charities.

Assuming you live an average life in a Western Country, earn an average (or close to wage) and do actually give to a charity of your choice in order to help those that do need it ... then sure, you are free to have your own opinion on how and who you contribute those funds to.

I hope however this isnt a stance that means you do not give to charity though. As a western society we do earn substantially more than most others. It would be a shame if you felt it was not reasonable to help those that cannot help themselves, which ever country you wish to help.

I don't support Comic Relief either because i think that charity should start at home.
Comic Relief has been going for about 20 years now (maybe more) and raises millions. Why are these children abroad still starving? Who is taking this money? If it is going to their government (of whatever country it goes to) then it shouldnt even be raised at all in my opinion because they dont seem to be doing much with it.

Yes there are bad charities support something useful I am a man and still think breast cancer is a worthy charity or HIV not some morons who cant look after themselves. Think what is a charity you believe in stupidity is not a good charity I never supported Live Aid and am glad I didn`t what a waste of money

No, giving to charity is a very personal thing and you should not feel pressurised. I think you will find that many many people feel the same. I prefer to give to Children in need because the money is used mainly in your own region, which is the same principle really.

No Not really in my Opinion, at least your not saying
''is it wrong of me not to support red nose day because of the whole, 'it's too much messing about' kind of thing''
At least you like to support charity in your very own way!
