EMO style = kids dressing with tight pants, striped or dark shirts, black hair cut so that it covers half the face, makeup [on boys too], converse or vans for shoes etc ...
EMO charcter = EMOtional people who are real pesamistics and think that nothing in their life is good anymore and don't care anymore + cut their wrists in depression instead of going to ask a friend or other for help

Emo music is poppy rock or music with a lot af screamo in it.

Or if you want to be stereotypical then its a melodramatic teen who cuts their wrists, spends most of their time alone, in the dark and listens to songs about heartbreak and have their hair covering half their faces.
