The SECC is on the south side of Glasgow (as is the airport) but would be a taxi ride from the aiport.
Definatively there are three hotels in the shadow and next door to SECC. The Hilton and Marriott are both further away on the city centre side of Kingston Bridge. There are OK if you wanted a night out in town also.
The best option is hotel is the City Inn. A very nice boutique style hotel overlooking the River Clyde. Food is good.I would recommend this one.
Suggest a you get a taxi to City Inn, or see if a bus goes to SECC in the Finnieston area of Glasgow. To get to town (if you wanted to kill some time) from City Inn is walkable, but it is a good walk of about 15 minutes around a bit of a spegehetti of roads, under bridges, foot underpasses, overpasses and is best not done late at night.
If you stayed at City Inn it would be the most convenient for you without a doubt.

The other closest option is the Campanile (French Chain !) which is a bit more basic, cheaper and plastic. Food is appalling. Stay there only if on a tight budget or nothing else available.

The last one is the Crowne Plaza. Much more expensive.

Do you want to stay at the SECC or Glasgow International Airport?
There are 3 hotels in the SECC ground and 6 hotels at Glasgow International Airport.
The Crowne Plaza is the closest hotel to the SECC, its about 10 yards from the main arean but it is a 5* hotel so not cheap.
The city inn is just a 5min walk and I think thats a 3* hotel.

The Novotel on Pitt Street is really nice and its in a great location especially if you have some time to kill for shopping etc before the concert. Its just off one of the main shopping streets, Sauchiehall Street, and is surrounded by loads of nice bars and restaurants. The SECC is around a 5 minute taxi ride away and should only cost you a few pounds. You could walk to the concert in about 15 minutes - easier said than done though if you're not a local :o)

There are loads of hotels near the SECC you can stay at and won't cost a lot to travel to and from. The buses are a great service and most go via the city centre and the SECC. Hotels I can recommend are The Belhaven, City Inn, The Sandyford, The Victorian, Smiths, The Devon Cove and The Kelvingrove.

the express by holiday inn at glasgow airport is very nice - we stayed there before going on holiday from glasgow airport.
it is a 2 minute walk across the road from the main terminal building at gloasgow airport, or you can take a taxi or train into central glasgow in about 15 mins.
otherwise the express by holiday inn glasgow riverside is just off the main shopping street through glasgow and a 5 minute walk from central station.
