I have this computer without a hard drive so I put in a diffrent hard drive out of another computer.It seems everthing is working but it won't boot up.When you turn it on and power it up the screen goes to the www.dell.com pictures then to the flashing white line up in the right hand corner.Sometime I could get into the bios set up but I wasn't sure what to do there.
I have a computer boot up disk from my other computers and a windows home edition upgrade disk.will any of these help?
it dosen't go into bios anymore just the white flashing line at the top.How do i get this thing running??

If you want to use that hard disk, you need to make it as the C:\\ drive in your computer and it should be bootable. In BIOS, you should set the boot sequence as A:\\ and then C:\\. If you have a regular windows you can create the boot partition etc. on the hard disk. Ugrade disk works only if you have a OS like windows to start with. Try with the bootable disk and then format the hard disk using fdisk. You may need personal help from a more knowledgeable guy. If I were physically present, I might have succeeded by trial and error but I am not good at this remote help.

this is totally possible but will not be easy if you attempt by yourself and trying to give you step by step on here would be difficult..sometimes it is just easier to by a new hard drive.. good luck
