maximum were Deist's, very few Christians. study what Thomas Jefferson had to assert about church and state being brothers. there is one issue I oftentimes wondered about tho. If those human beings were so non secular, why did not the female have a vote or to vote, one should be a land proprietor. i visit assert one issue about their faith tho, that each one exceedingly a lot were happy with the slaves and with the flexibility to possess yet another human. Jesus suggested it nicely at the same time as he called the church the whore, dozing with each authorities. And that is going for the favourite day church also. How lengthy do you imagine the Pope may have stayed alive if he hadn't been hand in hand with Hitler.

The founding fathers were mostly Protestant. the country was founded on freedom of religion. I have none myself, at least not mainstream beliefs. On the freedom of religion issue and what ever you feel about Democrats and there views on Christianity.....they are allowed to, they have that freedom. I'm republican personally and I think Christianity is deplorable.

Some founders were deists some were Christians. The freedom of religion you reference was for all faiths providing it that freedom did not violate the constitution. Liberals are dedicated to the elimination of religion from the public square. This is not some far fetched rant but an observation of their conduct.

If you are talking about the core group (Washngton, Franklin, Jefferson...), they were overwhelmingly Deists, and the Christians among them did not resemble in any way the Evangelical Christians who most loudly claim that our country is founded on Christian ideals.

They practiced what they wanted to practice, not what someone else wanted to cram down their throat.
They were both Christians and Deists.
Freedom of religion because they thought one should be able to choose what religion they wanted to worship or not at all, which included not passing laws that force others religious views on others.
Tunnel vision and prejudice.

They were all Christian. Some more devout than others. Ben Franklin may be considered a non-Christian but that to is debatable.
In truth it was freedom of Christian religion. There were no others included at the time.
