When it comes to the indian roads the Scorpio scores above all,
When discussing about an SUV 3 things need to be taken into account :
-fuel economy
-ride comfort
-off roading
-city road performance
The fuel economy is best by the tavera in the highways,followed by scorpio, the safari and endeavour lag far behind the first 2.
In terms of ride quality & quietness its the scorpio crde it won't let you feel that you are in a diesel vehicle,but the rear most seats are still more comfortable in the Safari but the engine rattle is quite noticable.The Endeavour is very stiff it will take you for a bumpy ride even on the small bumps and potholes.Tavera has a soft suspension that is effective to the front passenger seats& the middle row of seats, the rear ones are bumpy.
Off roading is best done by the endeavour , safari matches it to some extent, but tavera and safari fail miserably.
When it comes to the city roads ,the scorpio gives a mileage of 8-10 km\l, it can accelerate to 60 kmph in less than 6 seconds. You will find that all tata cars are low powered and have to be revved above 4000 rmp to get some power to overtake. The endeavour is ok but nothing impressive.The tavera is not that very great in terms of accceleration but scores a point over others on wet surfaces.

The best choice will be scorpio
Lets put down what we look in a suv
1. Large space so that more no of people can travel
A scorpio has a specious interior and good leg space to accomodiate 8 people.
2. More Powerful engine
Scorpio has a powerful engine which 2.5 lts Turbo engine
which is idel for indian raod conditions
It has more added adventage as it is an indegenious engine , so more easy to take care of the spare parts .
As of my openion i strongely recommend u to go for Scorpio

The new endeavour is your best bet. If you want a home made SUV, then the scorpio. Then again, endeavour is improved with a new engine. Dunno whether its on sale or not. If its not, then I say you wait a little longer.
