We have had investigation on ethics, governement lies, Iraq war, MLB dopping, ect. Yet nobody seems to be concerned with the ripping off from the oil Company and the drug company. Are they all in it in Washington, are we ruled by corporation if so why vote for politicians? We need an investigation on Oil Co and Drug Co.

Many answers thank you. Let me make a point to all though. I know the Gov is somhow involved in regulating oil prices. Yet They do not taxe the oil Co who mind you made a 40 billion profit even thoug crude oil price went skyrocketing. There seems to be an impasse as to who decides how many and how refineries are built when and where (note we DO need more) as for the import remark. Many of our Big oil Co like Exon or Chevron OWN and EXPLOIT oil plateform from overseas, we DO own oil local and abroad. Now I think the Gov should impose the building of more refineries, should impose a tax on the Oil companies and should make sure that no matter what the price of oil at the pump is regulated so that it can be affordable to all.

Just how is the United States going to regulate the price of the Oil that Canada, Mexico, Venezula, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Britian, Russia, Niger or Norway sell ?
Or do you believe that we should pay those countries full price for oil, but then pay less to American oil companies for US oil ?
You do know that the Oil Companies buy their imported oil from other countries....don't you ???
They don't own the oil fields in those countries.

Hi,
Yes govt get involved in regulating oil prices even though it is dependent on imports. Govt should also increase its oil productivity in the country. Regulation because it is a consumption related to public/large number of consumers.

They do regulate it somewhat. But remember many of the people in our government are oil tycoons. Just look at Bush.

The Government needs to only be involved if it is reducing its taxes that they charge us per gallon. Jimmy Carter tried to get involved and we had no oil at all. You want prices to go down, then reduce the usage.

as a law, I think that the government is allowed to be involved in some ways of economy, regulating prices is one of them.

No, they should get OUT of regulating oil, and anything else they regulate which includes milk, sugar, wheat, and defining what "low fat" means.
