A building society is your best bet, I have 3 saving account with Britannia for my children.
Have a look at the rates online an go with the best one.

Abbey is good, it all depends on how much your initial deposit is in. And I know you wouldnt want to think about it, but you should make sure neither of you can withdraw anything without both signitures.
