Well I am currently shopping for jewlery for a certain someone and I am wondering what kind of jewlery women like? Do they want the solid gold stuff or would silver be better? Does it have to be expensive or can it be cheap? Is the thought really all that counts?

It depends on the stage of your relationship and what her style is.
If you guys have only been together a short while (a year or less), stick with something less expensive. Maybe a simple necklace (I prefer silver because it's more elegant to me). Department stores usually have cute things that aren't too pricey. Go with something simple. The circle of life pendant is really in right now, and you can find cheap knock offs all over the place.
However, if you guys have been together for a while, and want to do something extra special, Things Remembered is a great option because you can get everything personalized, and it still won't cost you an arm and a leg. Something like this would be very cute:

It's simple, and it's got HER name on it. I think it's way too cheesy when you get things like "I Love You" engraved on stuff.

For me I prefer white gold over yellow gold, but all woman think differently about their jewlery. Ask her what she prefers. Or if it is a total surprise look at her other jewlery and see if it is white or yellow and if she only has silver and you want to get a good quality than go with white gold because its still silver colored. As for expensive wise dont get somthing really cheap because even though it is thought that really counts she'll like it more the higher the quality of it is, and you'll feel better about it too.

An important factor is presentation. If you can get a piece of jewelry professionally wrapped in a really nice box, it is possible to make a cheap piece of jewelry look like it cost a great deal. Play it safe and purchase a small gold charm on a thin gold chain, and have it wrapped in a nice presentation box. Pick a jewelry store that has nice stuff and go there during its slow period so that they will have the time to give you more attention. Ask them to put it in a nice box because you are trying to impress a girl, and ask them to wrap it in white paper with silver ribbon.

If you're not sure if they like silver or gold I'd go with silver. And yes it really is the thought that counts. Try some nice silver hoops, you really can't go wrong with that. It dosent' have to be really expensive you can find some nice silver earrings for like $25.

Personally, I would question whether you should buy her jewelry at all. If she wore it often you would probably already know which of the two she prefers and wouldn't have to ask. And if she doesn't wear it regularly, why buy her jewelry? I'm sure she would still appreciate the gesture but something that speaks more to her interests might be an even better idea.

i like white gold and silver, i hate yellow gold, you can watch to see which they wear and prefer or ask, i woulod love any gift from the heart no matter how cheap, but make it nice. hearts are good go for a necklace or braclet since you probably dont know ring size

See what is she wearing now (gold or silver) contact someone close and ask what she most use commonly or what she like to wear. All depends... not all girls like expensive or gold stuff

well most women really like all jewelry, but it depends on what you want it for ,if asking her to be promised to you then a ring,engagement =ring,birthday=necklace/earrings,birthday=bracelet or anything.but its best while dating to stay casual not to expensive,but good jewelry. a persons coloring plays into it a lot im dark so i look best with silvers,fair people can wear both,i could too but i dont think it looks as good

Depends on the girl... If you really like her buy her something EXPENSIVE! that shows you really care. Type of jewelry usually is a preference. You'd have to ask her yourself. Thought really does count, it shows that you would go out of your way to buy the one you love something nice.

Most girls like those helmets with beer can holders on the side - the ones with the straws? OR, you can always get her an "I'm with stupid ===>" T-shirt and walk on her left.
