Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the White Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These White Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Whites are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the White Community
3. Commitment to the White Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.

The link above is Obama's church.
I havn't gotten much response to a question that most liberals would usually jump on to call me a name, so they must have seen this prior.

It wouldn't make you racist. It would make you a presidential candidate. Thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy of our culture.

In a word "yes". A man cannot serve two masters: you either love God and let that love show through you by doing unto others as you would have done unto you, or you don't. These 12 precepts and covenants, this 'White Value System' they have adopted is contrary to the absolute truth, the spirit and the intent of the scripture. You cannot serve both. As you believe, so shall you do and what you will do will be racist. You should read the scriptures....

To insist on the word White preceding every word of action this church seems to forget that the planet is occupied by many different races and cultures not just the white one.
Read these rules from the Nazarene Church you will see the difference. It is NEVER question of you as a person but you as a christian in a family of Christ like people. good luck.

Sounds like the alter-ego of the Jesse Jackson or Alan Sharpton types... All hate comes from the belief that one person is superior to another, whether this be based on race, religion, etc... And this so-called superiority complex derives from a feeling of inferiority or displacement... And the very strong implication these 12 precepts and covenant statements derive from is none other than that same feeling of inferiority or displacement; thus, my answer to your question is: YES.

I think if the doctrine read "Whole" and/or "Our" instead of "White", I would be inclined to join. Racism is an learned/adopted attitude. I don't feel that you will be racist, but the concepts raise a red flag. I think that the Word is literally being twisted.

When I Googled "Manford Byrd Recognition Committee" it gave me the site you got that text from (which is below in Source).
Funny thing is, either YOU or someone else changed the wording. Where you have the word "white" in your text, the website has "black".
Hmmmmm.......

Replace the word "White" with the word "Black". Is it racist then?
Ahem... That is, if it weren't that way already.
It's ridiculously exclusionary, but the level of racism is based upon the intent of the original document writers.
Then again, this being the political section, is this about Obama's invitation to the church to announce his candidacy?
Edit- Ha, caught me as I was writing this. Good one.

No, it wouldn't. It would make you a WASP, although many percieve them as racists. It's not what we believe that makes you a racist, it's what you believe. And since I've seen nothing that preaches intolerance or gross superoirity, I'd say no.
