Make sure that before you light your candle, to trim the wick down to about 1/4 inch. I have found that with candles these days, because of all the oils in them, the wax "rolls" off the sides and that is why they curl at the top. What I do is after I put out the flame, I gently press the sides of the candle down. That help keeps the wax level for more even burning. ;)

I burn Yankee Candles and have never had that problem. You really shouldn't be burning a candle for 12 hours. Burn it for a couple hours max. Maybe you could get a few different candles and alternate when you burn them. Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch. Stick your candle in the freezer and it will last a little longer.

Actually, I think that's a sign of a good candle. They do that to keep the breezes from putting the candle out, I think. Maybe break off the side pieces when they get too tall for your liking?

i burn candles a lot. good candles and that used to happen to me. i found these candle lids at linens n things for $6 and they make the candle burn evenly. they work great! they also make it so the jar is not covered in soot. I attached a link from some obscure store but I am sure you can find them any where you buy your candles.

It is probalby the wax itself. I sell Gold Canyon Candles, when you burn them, they liquify so you always get a clean even burn. You should always trim your wicks to 1/4 inch prior to lighting them and you should only burn them for a few hours (4 max) at a time. I agree with the other person that suggested burning several different ones at varing times. You should never burn candles for such a long time. Maybe one hour. Always be sure to trim the wick. That should help.

The trick is to find a glass jar that is about the same size to put them in and burn them there.

I have heard that if you put them in the freezer before burning that it helps.
