I want to be a doctor but then when I start to move towards that goal I somehow find some reason that I would not make a good one. It is so important to me that I would be good at whatever I choose to do. Some people say to develop an "I dont care" attitude. I cant. I care so much about so many things. Maybe I take too many things seriously. I dont know. Im tired of not realizing my dream. Im afraid to own it, because if I fail at that then its my doing. Im already failing enough classes I shouldnt be afraid of it anymore. Jeeez. Yea I just need some really great advice or a point in the right direction.

I wanted to be a doctor, but I thought I lacked the dicipline, and I let that fear move me away from that dream. The truth is I would have been a great doctor because I am not traditional thinker. I use knowledge learned and obtained to explore deeper levels of things. I was and still am a person that does not beleive that just because somehting quacks like a duck or walks like a duck or even looks like a duck is a duck! I think a good doctor should have this skill. Fear and not being supported or motivated made me shy away from the fact that I could do all things with Christ Jesus who strenghtens me.

Now my 15 year daughter picked up the torch, I never told her my dreams and at 4 years old she told me she wanted to be a doctor to help babies or puppies well that dream has changed only to now help women have babies and reasearch infertility in womens medicine. Because I did not have support I aid her in her effort ,she is so very focased Im very proud of her she is in the top 10 of her class and takes college courses with advance Seniors she is number 1 in all her advance courses with these seniors that are considered very bright and shes hanging and holding her own! She is not very smart she is very dertermined! She is focased and has faith that she can do all things through Christ Jesus. It is amazing as I see her as she struggles in her work, is up all night reading and studying and praying. Very competitive and just beleives she can do it. It is very hard for her but she never stops! You are going to have to do the same thing....Never stop and beleive! Step by step and remember its your dream not everyone who is being non supportive, its not their dream its yours! Push every little step is a closer step dont look ahead look in front of you step by step! Class by class grade by grade planning, pace yourself.... Find you a mentor program and surround yourself around people that have the same goals or seek out people who have been where you are. Being around people that think and want what you want motivates you to work on another level in your mind, you then start to acheive higher goals without or little effort because your mind has been activated and transformed to rise to the occassion that you have put it in. The mind is so powerful this way. God Bless you! Go for it. Do all you can before you give up by never giving up!

You chose a great occupation, but one where the stakes are high. I feel in the same boat somedays, since I am a teacher and know how amazing a great one can be and how harmful a bad one can be. Maybe you are just taking stock of the risks and feel like you can't meet them (I have been there too). What I did my first year teaching was talk to as many other teachers as possible and see what they were going through and find out what errors they made. No matter the occupation, people make mistakes, so just accept your humanity. I am sure you will find everyone has made errors, even famously successful doctors. Once you know a few stories about errors made by people still working in that same job, you might feel a little bit more comfortable with your humanity. No one is perfect, so don't expect to go your entire career without making a mistake.
If you are still anxious, I would suggest job shadowing a few doctors or others in the healthcare field. If you don't like cutting people, maybe you can be a diagnosis doctor or physical therapist. If you don't like working in a big hospital, maybe you would be happier as a general practitioner. If you don't want the years of schooling and testing to be an MD, maybe you would be happier as an RN. Talk with your guidence counselor or college job center to see if you are on the right path and what other paths are out there that may suit you better. Deep breaths.

Everything worth striving for is always a challenge. People that settle without ever striving lead complacent lives. In time they grow old and stale and boring. They stop growing. They are afraid of a challenge. Their fear keeps them in prison. They are not the subjects of good biographies. Have you noticed that people that have the most interesting stories to tell have the most unpredictable lives. But it's the stuff that makes them who they are.

If you have a dream, some worthy endeavor worth striving for, it will most probably involve hard work and sacrifice. It will be an uphill battle overcoming obstacles. It's a dream because it involves another reality in your life that you must pull together. It's something that requires you to leave the safety and comfort of your present zone and strive to achieve.

Set the goal. Aim high. The journey often involves sacrifice, hardship, 3 steps forward, 2 back. But it's all a process where you will discover things about yourself, and you will grow from it. Don't try to take it in all at once. Just set milestones to accomplish and move from one to another. Finally, things may change as you move forward and see realistic limitations. So the end goal may become something different.
Success and failure are learning experiences if you are wise and courageous.

Thoreau said that "if one advances confidently in the direction of one's dreams, he will be met with unexpected successes"

Everything is a process of becoming. Just try and go for it and see what unfolds.

Don't be afraid to go after your dream. You want to be a doctor, you will BE a doctor. I wonder if you always get A's, and fear even getting a 'B'? Are you extra hard on yourself, as far as your grades, your behavior, your succeeding in all you do?
The worst thing in life, for me, is to think how it would be to get very old, look back, and say, "I wish I had done.............".
whatever it was that I always wanted to do. Don't end up in that situation! Follow your heart, your dreams, and BE the best doctor you can be!
I wanted to be a teacher, so I became one. I wanted to learn how Social Services worked, so I got a BA in Social Work, to help me to be a better teacher. I wanted to know how the mind worked, even more.................so I went back to school to earn a Masters in Psychology. Do not thwart your dreams, fulfill them!
I take grades very seriously, and I remember when I received a B in Stats, going for my Masters. I, actually, cried. I knew better, but, I couldn't help it.
I did get over the 'B', and I learned a lot. You will, too. Just start your path towards your dreams.

If you really want to climb a mountain, focusing on the climbing gets you there. Worrying about whether you can get there only keeps you at the base of the mountain.

First of all, the correct attitude has to be cultivate. Being serious is good as you will be handling lives, of cos you will have to be serious in your job.
Secondly you will have to be able to handle stress. Will you be able to handle stress in most situation? Are you the kind of person who are calm thinker?
Thirdly, you will need alot of courage. Before being a true doctor you will be operating on animals, are you brave enough to handle this?
Being a doc have to go through a long and stressful road, ask yourself how much you are willing to earn them?
Having a 'I dun care' attitude is NO, NO...

You may have a fear of success. Or maybe you feel like your bitten off more than you can swallow. My advise to you would be to take baby step. Alot of small success's lead to one large success. You didn't say when field of medicine that you wanted to be a Doctor in, so I'm just gonna wing it here. This country is in dire need of nurses and are even offering to pay for the education due to the shortage. There are also Loan forgiveness programs, that the government is offering to help out. I will enclude these web sites below. You also may want to check out this web site where licensed Doctors will answer all of your medical quesrions for free. Maybe you could chat with one of them and get alittle inspiration

I suggest that you take it slowly and build up to your final goal. A neighbor of mine in Florida was an x-ray tech for the local hospital, and he made great money. Perhaps shot for that and continue your education once employeed. I really think that you are just overwhelmed by all that you need to accomplich, don't take so many classes that you can't concentrate and start to fail your classes.

Good Luck, just take baby steps, you have your whole life ahead of you. You may even consider forensic science, solving murders through DNA
I have a really good friend that is a flying nurse, she delivers babies that are addicted to drugs and premature babies, she loves helping these helpless little babies get a new start in life
You may also consider joining a branch of the service, say Coast Guard or Air Force, they will help you with your education, while supplying a place to live and a boost in your career

Maybe you fear success. It is quite common. Or, maybe you really do not wish to be a doctor but are living up to someone elses dreams? The only one who can guide you is yourself. Becoming a doctor should be a passion, not a source of confusion.
