I have been on job seekers for 3 weeks and have been offered a job last friday and have decided to take it.

My problem is that I obviously need help with the first months travel expenses as I have no money! I havent even had my first payment from the job centre yet! I asked in the job centre if i can get help with this and they have said no because I havent been on J.S's long enough (personally i think i should be rewarded for only being on it for 3 weeks, not 3 years!) and I dont think i should ask my new employer for an advance due to the fact they are giving me the wages i wanted even though they didnt want to pay out that much!

I was wondering if anyone knew any organization that will help me out with these costs. Even if it is just a loan. I start next monday so it would need to be something that went through pretty quickly also.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help. x

Firstly, congratulations on the new job! I hope it all works out well for you.
Is there any way your bank will give you a temporary overdraft on your account, at least until you get your first wages. I'm sure if you explain the situation to them, they'll understand, especially if it's only a small temporary overdraft.

Good luck next week!

Congrats on the new job! Hope it works out for you.

A lot of employers will actually cover your expenses (or at least some of them), depending on how much it's gonna cost them.

Failing that, maybe you could ask for a small advance in your wages as you haven't been working recently and need to get in and out etc.

Good luck!

Congratulations!!!

Personally , I wouldn't ask your work for money up front - it doesnt send out the right message. Ask the job centre - they used to have someting in place for this. Other than that your bank. Good luck - I hope it works out for you
