I have two cd's one is the windows xp proffesional sp2 and the other is windows xp professional x64 edition. Do i need to install both since they have different purchase keys or just either one of the two? What is the difference in the two?

I thought that by adding windows xp it would delete my files and i would have to restore my system, however since i dont have a system restore cd is there any way i can restore my system completely using the windows xp cd?

The x64 edition is for 64bit processors. I would see no reson you would ever want to install both versions, just one version for your processor type.

Ok, You only need to install one of these two. The difference consist on that the 64 bits edition is the best choice if you computer is loaded with a 64 bits processing unit (processor) etc which is also the best choice for the operating system performance. Furthermore, if you choose to install the 64 bit edition, you'd be able to upgrade it to Windows Vista 64bit edition as well. If further assistance write me back!!!

No you just install one

The difference is

Xp pro is for 32-bit processor

and

xp x64 is for 64 bit processor

If you use XP 64, your 32-bit Windows apps will run slow, because they'll be emulated. You will only see improvements if you're using 64-bit apps.

if u have 64 bit system like amd64x or Intel 64x,in my think,u is bet that u just choose windows xp because windows xp 64 sp2 execute all program and software
