Do a Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag. You can find both of them by following the path below.
Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>Disk Cleanup. Let it do its thing. You can check every box that has something to delete.
Now follow the same path and do a Disk Defrag. Again just let it do its thing.

If you have not done either of them for a while it will take several min. to complete. No data will be lost in this process.

Ooh, there's nothing like a good defrag when you're feeling down!
Several people have said how to do it, I thought I'd just explain that what it does is re-sort the files on your PC back to where they should be, making it quicker for the machine to find them. Repairing fragmentation, in other words.
If it's the first time you've done it, it make take some time.

Click on my computer, rigt click on your hard drive (C: probably) and then go on down to "properties". Click on the "tools" tab. Defragment will be one of the options. Be advised that this will most likely take a long time- you should probably leave it over night to let it finish.

Go into program files, then accessories, then system tools and select defragment. It takes ages so best to do it overnight, just set it off and leave it, it will do it itself and should speed your pc up.
