I think things were new then and fresh. There was a sense of excitement in just driving somewhere new. Now it's the same thing repeated day after day. And very few things are "new".

firstly at that age u doesn't have any responsibilities other than education and u r relaxed for thinking about some irrelavent matters.
as they were ur first chrushes it makes the difference.u will remember them
for eg if u r engaged to a person to get married then u remember ur first kiss the place, the situation etc.
lastly now u dont find that time to think of what happened yesterday bcz u always plans for a great 2morrow.
this is called matured thinking that makes the change from teenage.
from a psychological point of view one more point adds that is horomonal discharge which has controll over our thoughts and actions.

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real
sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that
feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence,
Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8).
The Upanishads call the emotional component of mind as
Chitta and the rational component of mind as Manas.
Chitta will be active during the adolescent years from 10
to 24. Chitta works like 'differenciation' in mathematics.
It is connected with in-depth information of each detail.
This is what you refer to as 'strong'. The memory will be
vivid with as many details as possible. It is like viewing
each object through a convex lense or a microscope.
Anna, in her answer her, agrees that people remember
things more vividly when the events are attached to an
emotional response.
"The teenage years can be an emotional assault course for all concerned."

Manas starts functioning effectively after the age of 24.
Manas works like 'integration' in mathematics. It is connected
with overall view. It is like getting the distant view using a
concave lens. The rational mind gives less importance
to details. It is connected with 'pattern recognition' -
whether it is an object or situation.
In the United States, adolescence is generally considered
to begin around age 13, and end around 24.

Neurologically, you develop more dendrites, and more neurological connections quickly, when you are young.
Memories are actually not stored in one brain cell, though; they are the result of a VERY complex composition of electrochemical interactions between neurons just about everywhere in the brain.
A memory is simply the re-connection of almost all of those neurons again!
As you get older, these composition may not be imbedded and re-called as well.

You only remember things that are important to you. Plus your memory was better when you were younger. Your working years probably seem less important to you and it is just whizzing you by? You probably didn't have a care in the world as a kid, that's why those days seem so important. :)

Research has shown that people remember things more vividly when the events are attached to an emotional response. And what time in our lives are we the most emotional? Teen years!

its normal. the reason is ... these are the best years of your life and you enjoy it tto the fullest. Responsibilities, accountability is much less.
WHen u grow up , u have hundreds of people making your life miserable, this leads very less time to fond memories.
our brain tends to record only the memeories which we like, and it forgets all other types !!
