I NEVER turn my laptop off, except when I need to restart. I've been doing this for about a year a nothing's wrong, so I think there's no problem, but I just want a little confirmation. So does anything happen?

Technical and scientifically yes. You are diminishing the life of your hard drive, your LCD Screen and your battery life.

If you still insist leaving your laptop on, consider the folling link for some tips.

I'm not sure how dangerous it is but I would not reccomend leaving it on for long periods such as days at a time. Generally laptops run at much higher temperatures because of their smaller inclosures and run a greater risk of over heating. I had one that would feel so hot at the end of the day that you would swear you could fry an egg on the bottom. I have seen another that melted a portion of the outside plastic because the fan failed and the heat sink became so hot it started melting the plastic.

It also depends on you system configuration. If it is good then your system can stay on.Nothing to worry in this.My friends laptop has not been shut down even for a seconds since last month.

You can also try ither method like hibernation which transforms the ram to harddisk and shut's down. When you again turn on your system you will get your system from right where you left it and within 10 or less seconds. You can show hiberantion by some resource hakcs.

TO enable hibernation right click on the desktop and then go to properties .Go to screensaver and then click on the power options button.now go to advanced or hibernation tab and selct the checkbox enable hibernation.

Now when you go on the shutdown dialog box hols shift and u'll be able to see the hibernate btton.
try this trick
enjoy.

laptops generate a lot of heat. Overtime that heat can weaken the electonics inside. It's a good idea to give it a rest or at least make sure it's given very good ventilation.
