Is it 5km or 10km? I cant remember.

You can walk either in the time limit - 10km in about 2 hours, 5km in about an hour so anything above that is an achievement

The first steps are important, run a mile early thi week and one towards the end of the week.

Next week run 1 miles and the distance between 2 lampposts, and slowly build up a distance like that to about 2 miles (5km race) or 4 miles (10km race), after that concentrate on doing the distance comforatbly. The atmosphere of the event will push you the extra distance once you have got your base level of fitness and speed OK

Have fun and post gain asking for sponsorship

I assume it is a 5,000m meter run ? If so try to manage over-distance comfortably once in the week before the race itself, then cut back and just keep active running 2 miles or so 3 days before.

Make sure you drink lots of water and slowly build to the just over 3 mile distance. Make sure you stretch and warm-up/down properly to avoid any injury too. Even do stretches on days you are not running, just to keep flexible.

If it is a half-marathon or more .... I'd suggest you have left training way too late. Just give a donation and go watch and support the race.

You can print out a guide off the website, last time it was Tesco. Also, make sure you are prepared for a good cry just before the start as they have a minute silence and it's so moving!! Good luck xx

Being a male armchair sports fan cant give any tips on your training.
Just want to say well done for taking part in such a worthwhile
project.
On second thought try approaching your local gym for some support you never know they may even sponsor you.

good luck
