that would depend on a couple of things.
1. if it is for the administrator, and you forgot the password. then there is only one way to bypass the password. (I'll get to that at the bottom)
2. if it is for a registered user, then just log in as the administrator and reset the password.
3. you may be able to still get into windows, but you may have to see if you can log in using a GUEST account.
Now there are ways around a password, some programs can crack them, but they are expensive and not very reliable.
you can take it to the local computer repair center, and they will charge you a couple hundred bucks and they will reset it.
Or
you can look up your laptops schematics online. You can also then flip one of the switches on the motherboard, and it will erase any passwords. But you have to take it apart, and know what you are doing.
so I'd recommend you take it to the local computer repair place and pay the $100- to $200 price and let them do it.

I think you can login as admin or administrator and then change your user password in control panel. It's been a while since I've had to sort out that problem, but that might be the solution. Try it out and see if it works.

can you remember the password of any of the accounts on this machine ?
If not then it is best to rebuild.
If you have data on the disk that you would like to keep you can download software called BartPe that should enable you to boot the pc up and then copy any data off the machine before rebuilding.

There are "crack" utilities available, but in most cases it is best to just rebuild the system (reload windows).
